Helen's Bay Community Garden

Community Gardening is a real joy as you not only spend time outside in nature but you also get to meet interesting people who share your passion for gardening. The Helen's Bay Community Garden in Northern Ireland is such a place and it is absolutely beautiful, especially when the weather's good.

And even if the weather's not that great there's always the polytunnel that offers warm shelter and sweet aromas of flowers and vegetables in bloom.

Of course at the end of the day it is all about growing tasty vegetables. If you don't have a big garden or the resources to grow your own at home then joining a community garden is a great way to start growing and enjoying your own fruit and vegetables.

And the enjoying part is as much in the experience of tending to your plants and seeing them grow as it is in picking and eating the best quality fruit and veg. Quite often what you grow is too delicious to wait and we certainly munch a fair share of our harvest on the spot, especially fresh picked peas.

We believe that growing your own is such a rich experience that makes life altogether sweeter and we want to share this experience with as many people as possible, so in the coming months and following year we will be posting advice on how to grow fruit and veg and make cooking videos that demonstrate our 'field to fork' approach to food.
